Simple Fall Decor Ideas

You may have seen this shot of my living room last week when I shared my Simple & Natural Fall Mantel. Simple is the key for me this year. I'm trying to keep my budget very limited and instead use what I already own.

When the cooler temps arrive (let's pretend it wasn't 90 degree again yesterday!), I like to add a bit of warmth to contrast with my usually blues and whites. This year, instead of bringing in all the fall colors (like last year's mauve, pink and navy) I've opted to add some subtle copper accents.

I think just the hint of copper against the navy blue is so pretty! I also brought in some hydrangeas from my garden and I'm allowing them to dry out so that I can keep them for the whole season. This variety of hydrangea is called strawberry vanilla because it starts out bright white, turns to a beautiful pink and finally to green.

The pop of green from my favorite faux fiddle leaf fig is always a welcome addition in any room of my home!

I've kept the styling of the bookcase very simple, only adding a minimal copper accent in the form of the glass canister that I picked up at the Target dollar spot.

And because we do actually live in this house - these baskets contain some toys that inevitably make their way up to the living room from the basement playroom. At the end of the day, it's easy for me to just scoop up whatever is on the ground and dump them into one of these baskets.

Moving in to the kitchen, you'll notice just a touch of copper on the counter. I recently came across these canisters on Amazon and had to have them!

Full disclaimer - my kitchen table does not usually look this fancy! But I came across these pretty blue plaid napkins at Pier1 last week and knew I had to share them with you.

The napkin rings are (you guessed it) copper. They are in fact old napkin rings that I spray painted with Rustoleum's Hammered Copper. The power of spray paint is awesome!!

I did not by any means come up with this idea, although I wish I did! It's a very simple and effective way to create quite the showstopping fall centerpiece.

All the flowers and the heirloom pumpkin are from Trader Joe's and the entire arrangement cost me less than $20. Basically, all you need to do is create a well in the pumpkin, pop in some wet floral foam and start adding in your flowers! I also added a tin can in the middle of my well to hold some water since I figured the pumpkin would probably just absorb all of it otherwise. If I'm going to the effort of making a floral arrangement, I want it to last for a few days at the very least!

The tealight holders are from HomeGoods and add a nice amount of contrast to all the muted colors. There's something about amber that's just very fall, anyway right?

The funny thing is, in my effort to embrace simplicity this fall, I've fallen in love with my house all over again and I hope you've enjoyed looking at as much as I've enjoyed decorating it!
